Encaustic (wax)
Sue discovered encaustics as a medium in 2010 and since then has been ‘on fire!’ Encaustics is the oldest form of paint (think mummy portraits) and is made up of bees wax, damar resin and pigment. This medium is then heated to 200 degrees and painted onto a wood panel and then fused with a blow torch. It takes several layers to create the image wanted and often takes a turn of its own in the process. This freedom of expression is what Sue loves best!
