So I am entering this in a contest….American Still Lifes at the Bascom..it is another encaustic done on 30″x30″ boared..I was thinking simply about the tablecloth/the texture of encaustics drives me crazy but that was not enough so I put the vase and the flowers on the board…meaning I painted the cloth and then laid the board down and arranged the items…the items are relatively smooth. so this is usually how my paintings evolve…I start with a simple idea and then keep working it until it makes sense to me.
